About this swimming hole
Muir Rock is a giant granite boulder overhanging a deep emerald pool in the Kings River, a short walk from the end of Highway 180 in Kings Canyon. Jumping the 15-foot drop into the cold, clear water is a long-standing park tradition. Legend holds that John Muir himself gave speeches from this very rock to passing visitors.
