Sherwood Island State Park in Westport has a mile and a half of beach on Long Island Sound with views across to Long Island. The park's swim area is lifeguarded in summer and the grounds include picnic groves, a nature center, and the 9/11 memorial. It is the most developed public Sound beach in Fairfield County.
