Roque Bluffs State Park

Ocean cove · Maine

About this swimming hole

A 274-acre park on Schoppee Point south of Machias with an unusual two-in-one swim: a half-mile crescent of sand and pebbles on Englishman Bay for bracing saltwater swims, backed by the shallow, much warmer waters of 60-acre freshwater Simpson Pond just across the beach. Between the beach and pond are picnic areas and a children's play area by the parking area. A 6-mile trail network runs inland through old orchards, fields and woods.
