About this swimming hole

Split Rock Lake, formed by a 1938 WPA dam on Split Rock Creek, is the only lake in Pipestone County and carries a sandy, shallow swimming beach. The calm, slow-speed reservoir sits among Sioux quartzite outcrops and prairie, minutes from Pipestone National Monument. Canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards rent from the park office in summer.
