About this swimming hole
Usal Beach is a wild, driftwood-strewn cove at the end of a rough dirt road in the Lost Coast backcountry, inside Sinkyone Wilderness State Park. The protected pocket of sand offers rare calm-water ocean swimming on this rugged coast when the surf is down. Getting there is half the adventure — the washboarded Usal Road keeps the crowds away.
