About this swimming hole

A Calvert County nature preserve on the Chesapeake Bay that was a pound-net fishing center from the early 1900s through 1955, with one rebuilt fishing shanty still standing. A trail of about half a mile leads from the entrance through forest and freshwater ponds to a wide sandy beach below the Calvert Cliffs formation. Swimming is permitted at the beach, and fossil shark teeth eroded from the cliffs can be collected along the shore.
