Natural swimming hole
Miners Beach
Lake · Michigan
About this swimming hole
A nearly mile-long stretch of soft sand on Lake Superior inside Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, about 20 minutes east of Munising, with a relatively shallow entry that makes it a favorite for swimming. A boardwalk from the west-end parking lot threads a jack pine forest to an overlook above the beach, which sits in the shadow of Miners Castle. The mouth of the Miners River at the west end forms a warmer pool, and Bridalveil and Elliot Falls are visible from the shore.
