Halfway Lake is a spring-fed, high-elevation lake in Bald Eagle State Forest, named for 19th-century travelers' midpoint between the Susquehanna and the mountains. The 300-foot sand beach opens Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, 8:00 A.M. to sunset, at your own risk. The spring-fed water stays brisk all summer.
