Clausen Springs Recreation Area is a 545-acre Barnes County Park Board recreation area on Clausen Springs Lake, about 4.5 miles west and 1.5 miles south of Kathryn. A swimming area with no lifeguard present is available close to the main camping area, with a shower house nearby, plus an accessible fishing dock, boat ramp, and a picturesque 2-mile loop around the lake. The North Country National Scenic Trail follows the park's northern boundary on an abandoned rail bed into Kathryn.
